One of the best ways you can help support us and your own band members is through volunteering your time. Uniforms, chaperones, pit crew and other committees provide a wide range of volunteer time opportunities.
Volunteer Highlight: Pit Crew
The Pit Crew is responsible for assisting the Band and staff, generally on evenings and weekends. This committee assembles marching show props, transports band equipment, sets up/breaks down the percussion front ensemble equipment and marching show props for Friday night football games and Saturday marching band competitions, and loads/unloads the truck used to haul the band’s equipment. Anyone can learn a job with the Pit Crew, and it is particularly helpful to have people handy with fixing stuff (the Gator or trailers, etc.) and building or making stuff to be used as show props.
Volunteer Opportunities: Participating on Pit Crew is a great way to get involved with the marching band program and meet other parents and band staff. You will get to know the students, and be a part of something that means a lot to them. You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at what the bands are doing and how much the students are enjoying the experience.
